Sefton Design Awards

We are delighted that St Winefride’s Health Campus won ‘Best Conversion Scheme’ at the Sefton Design Awards (20th October 2023).

Part of Hugh Baird’s Healthcare Campus, in partnership with Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust and The Life Rooms,  the former site of St Winefrides Church on Oriel Road, Bootle was acquired by the college in 2015 to develop specialist skills training and mental health wellbeing facilities.

The campus has preserved a significant local landmark with the conversion, restoration and remodelling of the former church and the construction of two new buildings.  Shortly before the start of construction for the first phase of the development, a  fire destroyed the interior of the church building including the roof, floors, fixtures/fittings and the stained-glass windows.  Rather than demolish the remaining structure, the design team worked quickly to re-design the scheme.

We are proud to have worked alongside Arcadis, Kilhey Consultancy and John Turner Construction who supported mechanical, electrical, and structural engineering services on this project.

Well done to the whole project team!
