Lancaster University School of Mathematics (LUSoM) is a specialist maths school for year 12 and 13 students, based in Preston.  It is the first purpose-built maths school in the country and opened in September 2022.  All students study A-Level Maths and Further Maths, alongside up to two additional A-Levels and a University Award.  It is a nationally significant centre of excellence for post-16 mathematics and hosts outreach and CPD events for providers across the region.  The building features high-quality collaborative learning spaces where students can immerse themselves in stretching undergraduate-level concepts and flipped learning.  An innovative, flexible auditorium at first floor level provides a lecture space for up to 400 people, as well as an exams space for a whole year group.  Developed on a very constrained site on the A6 London Road, the scheme features an external roof terrace and redeveloped public open space to the frontage.  Flinders Chase was involved from project inception, developing the business case and project managing all aspects of the pre-opening stages, ICT and self-delivery of the building.
