Carbon Net Zero Strategy
Our Net Zero Carbon Strategy sets out our commitment to carbon net zero for our Tier 1 and Tier 2 emissions by 2026 and actively reducing carbon emissions across the Built Environment, via reductions in our Tier 3 emissions.
We operate from a single office base in Liverpool City Centre. Within our office operations we maintain a light footprint by minimising any paper usage, selecting low power devices for our staff, segregating our waste and re-using then recycling. We have an Environmental Policy, Environmental Management procedures in line with ISO14001 and a 3-year Sustainability Acton Plan which has assisted in ensuring our carbon footprint is extremely low.
We have developed a Sustainability and Innovation Checklist which is completed by our Sustainability Lead during Peer Reviews for all our projects before major design gateways. Our sustainability checklist aligns to BS ISO 21928 – Sustainability in Buildings and Civil Engineering Works. It sets out as a framework that maps the core indicators to each of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The core indicators for Environmental Factors include energy management, material management, waste management, emissions to environment, ecosystem health and land use changes. The core indicators for social factors include accessibility, job creation, stakeholder involvement and social equity.
Our modest energy needs are provided through a renewable tariff and our building is a refurbished historic building that has been re-used. Beyond our direct operations, we support schools with Travel Plans and sustainable transport initiatives. Our Carbon Net Zero Strategy is reviewed by the Board at least annually.
